Outback Events develops and manages large sporting events
to a national level around Western Canada.
With 6 events and more than 2,000 participants each
year, we are one of Western Canada's largest and most experienced event management
Outback Events is a
Kelowna, BC based sports and Event Management Company
owned by Joe and Sarah Dixon that has been operating
since September 2002. They have over 6 years of experience and
originally established Outback Events as a professional entity
to direct the foreseen growth and development of the Oliver "Wine Capital
of Canada" Sprint Triathlon. Joe previously worked as a manager for
the BC Government for 12 years and Sarah had over 6 years of management
experience in an award winning Subaru dealership before starting Outback
From 1999 to 2001 Joe was the President of the Kelowna Triathlon
club. This lead to Joe being asked to
take over as the President of the Kelowna International Triathlon Society, which
runs the Kelowna Apple Triathlon, for the 1999 race. After racing at Ironman
in 2002 he decided to return to race management.
Outback Events was formed in 2002 as a sports and event management
company specializing in race and event marketing.
Joe as a triathlete has completed Subaru Ironman
Canada 2002 and the Triathlon World Championships in Kona in 2006. Joe is also the
current Race Director for Subaru Ironman

We employ a crew of a dozen event staff on a part-time basis, as well as
coordinating hundreds of committed volunteers.
We create our events from a common vision for success with our participants and
our sponsors. We are constantly exploring new and cutting edge innovations in
event management that delivers consistently professional, safe, world-class

for triathletes and we are fortunate to be able to be involved with both parts
of the sport. Seeing people get involved with a sport that has given a great deal

creates a great experience for our athletes when racing with us. We are a very
interactive team that constantly likes to interact with our athletes so we can
