About Us

Outback Events develops and manages large sporting events to a national level around Western Canada.

With 6 events and more than 2,000 participants each year, we are one of Western Canada's largest and most experienced event management specialists.

Outback Events is a Kelowna, BC  based sports and Event Management Company owned by Joe and Sarah Dixon that has been operating since September 2002.   They  have over 6 years of experience and originally established Outback Events as a professional entity to direct the foreseen growth and development of the Oliver "Wine Capital of Canada" Sprint Triathlon.  Joe previously worked as a manager for the BC Government for 12 years and Sarah had over 6 years of management experience in an award winning Subaru dealership before starting Outback Events.

From 1999 to 2001 Joe was the President of the Kelowna Triathlon club.  This lead to Joe being asked to take over as the President of the Kelowna International Triathlon Society, which runs the Kelowna Apple Triathlon, for the 1999 race.   After racing at Ironman Canada in 2002 he decided to return to race management.  Outback Events was formed in 2002 as a sports and event management company specializing in race and event marketing.

Joe as a triathlete has completed Subaru Ironman Canada 2002 and the Triathlon World Championships in Kona in 2006.   Joe is also the current Race Director for Subaru Ironman Canada in Penticton , B.C.  Sarah is an up and coming triathlete that is training to race her first Ironman.

We are involved with the sport of triathlon because it has become a passion.  Hosting the best event that you can is a great challenge.  We are triathletes who put on races for triathletes and we are fortunate to be able to be involved with both parts of the sport.  Seeing people get involved with a sport that has given a great deal to us is very rewarding.  We have met people from around the World, amateur and professional, some having become close friends.

At Outback Events, our goal is to put on safe, fun and successful events that creates a great experience for our athletes when racing with us.
